Be critical and creative

Critical thinking may be described as the use of reasoning to draw inferences and make deductions. For young children it mean being challenged to give reasons for opinions. Creative dialogue can be summed up 'playful talk' which is being playful with ideas, suggesting alternative possibles and encouraging children to be imagination leader who probes for reasons and engages in playful speculation.

Question calling for critical thinking include:
       - Asking for reasons
            1. What makes you say that?
            2. What reasons do you have?
            3. Why do you agree or disagree with X?

       - Probing assumptions
            1. How do you know?
            2. Why do you think that?
            3. What evidence is there for believing...?

       - Questions calling for judgement
            1. What do you conclude from that?
            2. What criteria would you use to judge...?
            3. What follows from that?

Questions calling for creative thinking include:
       - Generating questions
            1. What question might we ask about that?
            2. Why...?
            3. What if...?

       - Comparing and contrasting
            1. How is X similar to Y?
            2. Is X the same as Y?
            3. How is X different from Y?

       - Hypothesising
            1. Do you have a theory why this might be?
            2. What does that connect with...?
            3. Supposing...?

Thanks a bunch for sharing.
I have a chance to study in Critical thinking course this semester and after finishing the course,
I knows that before believing or doing something, we must use the critical thinking skill to evaluate the information . It's very useful in my daily life and it's also one of the best skills that we must teach our students.

Wow That is a great topic for me.
Thank you so much Nat.
Critical thinking is important to all students.
Not only the knowledge that the teachers have to teach but also how to think critically.
Because if you can think critically, you can deal with any difficult situations and pass it easily.
And also live in the society.

It's a good topic and thanks for sharing it.
Students are always imformed and remember but they hardly think why it is told like that. Teachers play a large role of help students think critically.
This skill is very important when they grow up because they will make a right decision.
