3RD WORST IN ASIA!

According to Education First’s annual English Proficiency Index, THAILAND is now on the 3rd worst in Asia, being better than Cambodia and Mongolia. Thai school system performs poorly on the international assessments. For age range, youths 18-20 and adults 21-25 years old have poorer English skills than people in the 26-30 age.
Hence, Do you think that "Ranking" is really significant? Does it really reflect on Thai Education system? What about the government sector? and How will the circumstance toward English skills be in the forthcoming AEC?

Absoloutely. The ranking shows that it is time to improve our weak point as soon as possible.
It is also a perfect evidence to support that Thai education system isn't provide an English skills for students enough.
Normally, in the public high schools provide the English periods for students only about 1-2 hours a week according to the central curriculum specify that each school has to provide the foriegn language period for students 80 hour a year.
I think it is just a small amount of time for learning so the government or the accessory should concern more about this problem.
Moreover, Thai is becoming a part of AEC so English is the base which everyone has to be educated.
So the best begining point is providing enough knowledge about English skills to our teenagers because they will become a strong power for Thai development in the future.

It's better than getting the last in Asia lol. This problem is sort of hard to handle.
Education system causes all problems from my thoughts. The system does not let
students for what or how to think. Teachers just teach what books contain.

I think the words "third worst in Asia" or "62nd out of 70" in English in the world can truly effect how the whole Thai students are.
BUT they effects 'HOW THAI TEACHERS ARE"!!!
I don't mean only English teacher, but I mean all of the teachers ignore how to encourage the student to earn a lot of knowledge by themselves.
And also parents who focus only on earn a lot of money to support their children's education, but don't have time to teach them how much education is important.
So students come to school not to learn, but to spend time uselessly.
According to my experience, when I was in high school, my friends loved to sleep in class, skip the class and do something bad out of the school that their parents don't even know!!
We have to change from the top to the bottom to make our country develop.
There is not only worst in English but worst in any kind of studying.

Hey, people! There was many ranking showed like this.
It's absolutely true and we all can't deny it.
Most of people in Thailand especially in the school and university levels are poor in English.
It's not just reflect the quality or Thai's education but also attitude towards English of Thai people.
We have seen many ranking resulted like this. At the time we saw it, we just concerned about it for short time but no actions to solve it substantially.

These 3 things make Thailand is the developing country NOT developed country.

According to your statement and the evidence you provided, it is time to look back to the education system in Thailand. It is not only about students, not only about teachers, but it is about all people in the country. The government, parents and other environment around those students. If students cannot read or write or even communicate with the foreigner, one thing that heppend in our mind is that they are weak or they cannot improve it anymore. And that is a very bad thought. It is like we are giving up to teach or to improve their hidden skills. I do believe that all of us can improve ourselves to be good at those skills, if we don't give up. And if we have good opportunities to be in the environment that forces us to use those skills regularly, we can achieve our goal easily.

Definitely agree with the ranking!
It is significant because it shows that Thai education system is not going so well on the national stage.
We are on the top 'worst' rank in South East Asia compared to 10 nations in ASEAN countries.
There are several reasons why thai education performs poorly on the national stage
that we really need to concern about and find some ways to solve the problems.

We need to catch up other countries, not being like this forever.
Education plays a big role for this. We all need a better education.
I know it is easy to say, but it hard to do. Anyway, we all can start from ourselves first.

I'm quite agree with the ranking 3RD WORST IN ASIA!
Guys don't forget that we are developing country not developed country. I know that's not the statement to think about.
I want to be the one who develop our country to the developed country.
