Why aren't Thai student able to speak English well?

There are many Thai students who think in Thai language when they speak English.
They think in Thai language and translate to English when they speak.
It is better if they change their thinking; instead Thai thinking, they think English when speaking in English.
Other way, they should learn like natural model like a baby who speaks in easy conversations naturally.
I think, if they would like to speak English well, they have to change the way they do think.

2-3 hours a week at most. And you're wondering why?
Apart from in the classroom, we "never" get a chance to use English.

I think they are shy and worry about the mistake.
The main point is teacher don't let's them to speak.
So they don't have a chance to practice and use it in their life.
It makes they think that English is not important thing in their daily-life.

But when we got the chance to speak they are afraid of making mistakes and don't want to speak at all. That's why they don't speak well.

One important thing, they have negative attitude toward English.

Actually, it's difficult to make Thai students are able to speak English because they hardly not use English in their daily life.
Maybe they don't know how is English important which it make Thai students don't like English subject.

Thai students learn English as their foreign language not their second language.
As you can see, Thai student don't speak English after school or they don't even have
some foreigners to talk to. And, they also learn English just for exams. They think
they can make it if they study harder and harder. what is the result, can they really speak?

They just speak it in English class and another class or in real life they did't speak it.
Sure, it is second language and we are Thai, we use Thai language in daily life.
Sometime they afraid that they will speak it wrong grammatical so they choose not speak it out.
If they are not try to speak out, they will can not speak it.

I will talk about some case which I have seen before.
I have a chance to teach student in p.1 in the tutor center.
He can't remember just the consonant in English.
I asked him when do you study English at your school.
He said at school teacher doesn't teach English. In my mind, I am so nervous.
Why don' they teach him ? I think this reason is the important problem which we have to solve it.
