LEARNING STUDENT NAMES
Getting to know students is a good way for faculty to build a positive rapport with them. This strategy can help promote positive faculty-student interaction, which in turn can help reduce absenteeism as well as increase student participation and engagement. In large classes, faculty can set up weekly meetings with smaller groups of students which allows for more quality interaction with individual students. Using icebreaker activities can help faculty learn student names as well as help students get to know their peers in the class.
